These fish belong to the species being called Nanochromis sp. "Green Speckle." This fish, along with several others - including the similar Nano. sp. "Bloody Mary" - was recently discovered (2003) in the area surrounding Lac Mai-Ndombe in the DR Congo.
They apparently belong to the sp. "Makoua" and sp. "Genema" group, along with the
"red dimidiatus" that was sent out by Brichard many years ago.
It is still unclear clear if all five fish are the same species, but it is possible.
This fish was found in a wild importation of Ctenepoma from the DR Congo in 2002.
